Hi everyone, hope you’re all ok?
I just wanted to tell you something about some of the recordings that accompany my single.
From next week I’ll have a couple of exclusive versions of ‘You Give Me Something’ along with the main version, available to download. The version we did on ‘LATER’ will be on iTunes and a new acoustic session version will be on Napster. I also did a cover of one of my old favourite songs, Michael Jackson’s ‘Man In The Mirror’ for them.
On the actual single, which will be in the shops on 17th, the extra track on the cd is called ‘Is Anybody Home?’ This is a song that very nearly made the album. I love the groove on this track. When I wrote it, I was thinking about all the people who are obsessed with celebrity status these days. It’s about believing in yourself and not the material things around you. I’m sure you can relate to that?
I’m also releasing a very limited 7″ vinyl edition of ‘You Give Me Something’ with a song called ‘Burns Like Summer Sun’ on the B-side.
I love the old 7″s and we did a special sleeve on this too. This is an older song, one of the first things I wrote. The original demo wasn’t quite right, so I went into the studio one Friday afternoon and recorded the song live, just to try and get the raw emotion of the lyric across. It was strange because there was a raging thunderstorm outside, but somehow it fitted the mood of the song. I really hope you like the results…
Love James.
