On June 26, James performed on the main stage at Hard Rock Calling in London. The main act for this festival was none other than James’ idol Stevie Wonder, so it was a special and exciting day for James. He played 11 songs (setlist order might not be correct).

JAMES ON BBC RADIO 2: IN CONCERT

Tune in to BBC Radio 2 on April 22, at 8.00 PM as James will be introducing the legend, Stevie Wonder in the programme In Concert. He will be talking to Jo Whiley about his idol and looking ahead to his performance on the same stage as Stevie Wonder in Hyde Park on June 26. The concert being aired features a headline concert from Stevie Wonder, recorded exclusively for BBC Radio 2 at the Abbey Road studios in London in 2005.

HAITI RELIEF SINGLE

Simon Cowell is producing a record to raise funds for the earthquake recovery effort in Haiti. The single, a cover of R.E.M.’s ‘Everybody Hurts’, is a request from UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown. According to various sites, the many participating artists will include Rod Stewart, Michael Bublé, Take That, Leona Lewis and James. Simon Cowell, has vowed to get the single out as soon as possible.

Update: According to James’ blog (see above), the single will be out on February 7 with proceeds going to the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) and The Sun’s Helping Haiti Fund. BBC asked Mika, James and Rod Stewart about being part of the charity single, and you can watch that video here. James’ part starts at 0m38s. BBC also reported that the single is being recorded at Trevor Horn’s Sarm Studios this week, where each artist is coming in solo to sing a section of R.E.M.’s ‘Everybody Hurts’. James had the added bonus of knowing the producer Steve Robson, and was ecstatic with his pre-selected lines. “He (Steve) said that I’d have the middle eight and I was like, ‘Wicked!’ That’s one of the best bits in the song.” The video to accompany the song is being made simultaneously with the recording, so you can expect to see a lot of artists at the mic wearing headphones as they sing along.

Update 2: The song will be available for download on February 7 and on cd single the following day.

Update 3: The single will be played by various UK radio stations on February 2 from 8 AM. This is the line-up of the 21 participating artists, singing in the following order: Leona Lewis, Rod Stewart, Mariah Carey, Cheryl Cole, Mika, Michael Bublé, Joe McElderry, Miley Cyrus, James Blunt, Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Jon Bon Jovi, James Morrison, Alexandra Burke, Susan Boyle, Aston Merrygold, Marvin Humes, Shane Filan, Mark Feehily, Kylie Minogue and Robbie Williams.

JAMES TO PERFORM AT LOS PREMIOS 40 PRINCIPALES

Spain’s radio network Los 40 is holding its third Premios 40 Principales award show in Madrid’s 15.000-capacity Sports Pavilion on December 11. Over the past few months, fans in many Spanish-speaking countries have voted for their favourites in various categories. James is nominated in the category ‘Best International Song’ for his hit single ‘Broken Strings’.

The award show has an impressive line-up and both James and Nelly Furtado are included. So who knows, maybe they’ll perform ‘Broken Strings’ again! The award show will be broadcast on television by Digital+ for its HDTV 40 iPlus customers. Let’s hope James’ appearance will turn up online!

Update: The show will take place from 8 to 11 PM (ES) and you can start following the event on TV from 7.30 PM (red carpet). If you don’t have the digital channel, 40TV will broadcast the highlights of the show, including the red carpet, the award ceremony and the performances. JAMES ON HEART 106

Sam and Amy from Heart 106 visited James backstage at the Trent FM Arena in Nottingham, where they talked about previous Nottingham shows, the arena shows, small and big crowds, and Dangerous Dave’s Christmas song and then the broadcast of the interview had to stop…So there will be more later this week. But for now, click here to listen to the first part.

Update: Well, here you go! The reason Heart 106 couldn’t let you hear more of their chat with James was revealed today. James was asked whether he’d consider to cover it (not as a request, but more in the sense of how much he liked the song, and then James said he wouldn’t mind putting his vocals on it, and then it turned into something real. So, Dangerous Dave’s Christmas song ‘Come Round For Christmas’ will feature James! Listen the announcement yourself, here. And tune in to Heart 106 on December 7 to hear it! The song will also be available on iTunes then. Proceedings go to When You Wish Upon A Star.
