Helping Haiti’s ‘Everybody Hurts’, a cover of R.E.M., was a request from UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown to help raise money for the survivors of the Haiti earthquake. It was organized by Simon Cowell and produced by Steve Robson. The 21 artists who provided vocals are Leona Lewis, Rod Stewart, Mariah Carey, Cheryl Cole, Mika, Michael Bublé, Joe McElderry, Miley Cyrus, James Blunt, Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Jon Bon Jovi, James Morrison, Alexandra Burke, Susan Boyle, Aston Merrygold, Marvin Humes, Shane Filan, Mark Feehily, Kylie Minogue and Robbie Williams.
James said: “To be a part of something so huge, not only because of the great caliber of artistes involved, but because of the cause and what this record can achieve. I’m so proud. I’m grateful for my opportunity to help in some way. many of you will have seen footage of the tragedy that’s happened in Haiti , and can only imagine the loss.”
