‘Wonderful World’ started with a feeling and is based on a man James saw on the bus. The man was drinking heavily, was deaf and tried to hug everybody, saying “I love you”. The people on the bus were being harsh and James felt sorry for the man. The feeling of feeling sorry for the man let to James writing this song. He is proud of the song, because it relates to how many people are feeling right now. “We do know it’s a wonderful world and we truly believe it’s amazing, but there’s so much other stuff that distracts us from getting to know that.” James thought of Louis Armstrong’s Wonderful World. That song didn’t make sense to him nowadays and he felt he had to update the song to make it more realistic and for him to believing it. That is where ‘I know it’s a wonderful world, but I can’t feel it right now’ came from. It’s positive, saying it’s good, but just not at the minute.
The song has been covered by Joss Stone at a couple of her concerts in 2007.She sang the song with James on stage at Coachella 2009. It has been used in MTV’s The Hills (s03e07) and in Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance (s03e22), as well as in the movie Lady Godiva (2008).
